Inspired by my good friend Spyfor I am encouraged to rant, just for a bit ;)
This is guaranteed to have me on someone's list of "blogs to review".
Patriots are true to their country; the government is not the country.
The second Amendment gives the people of this country the right to own and bear arms; the National Guard are not the militia.
Take away their means to fight back, and you control the people.
Control the media, and you control the people.
It has never been proven that removing guns from society makes us safer; if anything, it makes us defenseless against a greater evil.
The United States of America was created because "the people" rebelled and fought an oppressive government. The United States of America was also created by forcefully removing, through strength of arms, the land from the current occupants.
When all is said and done, those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who don't.
Guns are not evil. A gun in the hands of an evil person is not evil. It is dangerous, but it was dangerous before it came into his possession because that is how it was designed; that does not make it evil. Cars are also dangerous, but they have better P.R Managers than guns.
Tyrants and bullies never win until you let them.
End Rant.

Hmm, I hope that was a rant, as in spew out a whole lotta stuff without thinking about it kinda of rant.
Otherwise that CIA plot to spread paranoia via cocaine on greenbacks seems to to be a working.
There may be some nice psychological fuzzy feelings of safety owning a gun but they aren't based on reality.
Nah, I've always been paranoid...and probably also been on the Cubscouts In Action's "someone to watch" list since subscribing to several gun magazines and becoming an NRA member ;)
And sorry to disillusion you, my friend, re: the guns at home safety issue, but as I said, he who controls the media controls the people. The reality is that situations where people used guns to defend themselves or their family rarely make it into mainstream media because it's not considered newsworthy AND it's part of the anti-gun agenda not to make it know just how often guns are used in legitimate self-defense (not paranoid I tells ya ;) Yes, every now and then, a family member coming home really, really late is accidentally shot when he's mistaken for an intruder, but how many times are people not shot? You have to factor that into the equation, too. Tens of thousands of families own guns (perhaps hundreds of thousands) and have kept them safe in their homes for generations without a single accident. Shoot first, ask questions later, is not a good "gun safety" practice.
"That you, Jimmy-Joe-Bob?"
"Yeah, Paw."
"Ok, then. Git yourself to bed. Me & you will have words in the mornin'."
"Ok, Paw."
