For the next 10 days you can buy 60,000 W101 Crowns for just $60.
According to Tesh that's enough Crowns to buy every zone currently in the game. In other words, for the same price as a 12-month Sub you can get permanent access to every zone currently in the game (I say 'currently' because a new zone is already in the works). But don't take Tesh's and my word for it, check for yourself.
Wizard City = 3,000 Crowns
Krokotopia = 11,895 Crowns
Grizzleheim = 9,975 Crowns
Marleybone = 12,000 Crowns
Moo Shu = 10,800 Crowns
& Dragonspyre = 10,800 Crowns
That's a Grand Total of 57,470 Crowns.
Two years ago I quit playing World of Warcraft, and for less than the price of two 6-month WoW Subs I bought my son and I each a 12-month W101 sub. I find it amusing that I just quit WoW for the second time, and once again am considering replacing it with a Wizard 101 subscription, but this time with what is essentially a life-time sub.

I've been waiting for just this sort of sale. I love the Guild Wars-ish business model of "buy content", and W101 is a solid game. $80 for the 60k crowns is a bit steep for my taste (though not really all *that* bad), but $60 makes me happy enough to give KI some kudos and cash. (Not that I'd argue with an even lower price, but really, for an effective lifetime sub to a great game, $60 isn't bad at all.)
My son has spent about 20 minutes trying to explain DDO's "buy content" model as well and I keep wandering away scratching my head. It sounds like LOTR has also gone this way and if it weren't for the fact that I'm currently PC poor I'd finally try it.
As much as I (still) play WoW and enjoy it - the game comes with a lot of baggage. Ass Hat Players - Raid Drama - Ass Hat Players - Elitism - Ass Hat Players.
Did I mention Ass Hat Players?
There are times when I really want to move on to something else. Unfortunately I just haven't seen anything that has motivated me to move on.
I know Absolutely nothing about wizards.
sorry : (
