Today I saw something only a small number of people have witnessed first hand. No, that doesn't make me special. I was just in the right place at the right time :)
As I watched him over breakfast, Hermes maneuvered his own shell and one of his two new shells together, then holding on to the lip of the new shell he quickly swung across and slid into his new home. He'd already been in the new shell last night but was back in one of his old shells this morning, until he changed his mind and changed shells, again.
Both the new shells are a little larger than his two old shells, but one of the new shells is larger again than the other. He chose the smaller of the two new shells, I think he will have more fun playing with the biggest one (he does love to climb) than making use of it as a home. Maybe after he's molted one or two more times he might view the biggest shell as a home instead of a toy.
