Last Chance, allegedly ;)

This just in, from the W101 News Page in the Launcher:

I know, I know. I've been raving about Wizard 101, and I've even become known as the Famous Wizard101 Blogger ;)

$60 for a 12-month subscription. That's just $5 per month.
$60 is about the price of one, new release video game (@ $50+tax).

Now, there's no guarantees KingsIsle won't extend this offer, and maybe they'll even introduce a cheaper offer in the future, but if they do. Well, when they introduced the Family Plan (still not as cheap as two 12-month Subs at $60 each) anyone who'd bought several regular subscriptions and upgraded to the Family Plan got an in-game Crown allowance. Apparently enough Crowns to buy a couple of items, per account. And if you've seen what Crowns get you in W101, you'd realize that's not a bad deal.

At the very least, I encourage you to head over to the Wizard101 site, download the program for free and play it for a bit for free. Check it out, see if it's to your liking, and if you like what you see then now (and the next few days) is a good time to consider subscribing.

Y'know, I like what King's Isle is doing with Wizard101. I just can't buy into the sub model. I tend to play games for longer than a year, or I come back to them after a leave of absence. If they were selling time in game, rather than calendar access, I'd be all over that.

Still, that's a great deal if you're into subscriptions, and I hope that people are taking advantage of it. W101 is a great little game, and I've gotta admit, sub-loather that I am, it's a tempting offer.

I don't think I have the time for another MMO. I don't have enough time for WoW as it is.

But its good that you can get this paid-for up front type of subscription. If Blizzard were to do that for all of their games, I would happily pay upfront for a year's worth of service than to pay for continuous payments.

Hi Cap,

Gratz on the nice blog.

My wife and I also play Wizard101 and we got the year sub which was a nice deal: 80€ for both subs.
We usually play side by side and we noticed that, although the fights are indeed simultaneous, there is serious lag in every other aspect of the game and it seems on purpose.

For example, sometimes i am running behind my wife's toon but when i look to her screen is her's that's running behind me.

Have you ever noticed that?

Wyrm, I think that is typical in a lot of online games.

Hmmm, shall I or shan't I have a go at this game? Decisions decisions...

When I was dual-boxing (dual-accounting?) W101 using both my own and my son's account I did notice the lag, but my son is accessing our LAN using a Wireless NIC while I'm hardwired into our Router. It's especially noticeable if you can hear the sounds from both games at the same time.
