I cut it from the LA Times about 8 years ago and stupidly didn't clip the article itself. But someone knows the artist who drew this, maybe even one of my readers. So, let's see if one of you can come through :)As always, you can click the picture to view a much larger copy, like Wallpaper size :)

Do you remember what the article was about? You could search the LA Times archives online.
I'd say that it looks like a Tony DiTerlizzi piece, but a few minutes of searching didn't turn up a positive on that idea. :(
I took a brief look at the Times' archives and realized that as I'm not sure exactly when I cut the clipping, maybe some time in 2000, maybe as late as 2002, I'd have to sift through well over a hundred thousand articles.
IIRC the artist was Japanese (or Japanese-American), and on the back of the picture is part of what seems to be a traditional Chinese landscape painting. Maybe there was an Asian art exhibit at the time...but this is L.A. and there's probably several exhibits featuring Asian artists in any given year :P
I contacted an L.A. Times' Art Critic but he didn't recognize the piece and couldn't help me. I may have to resign myself to accepting that I'll probably never know the name of artist.
At least with the "Berkeley Breathed" picture that I also clipped recently I made sure to include the caption ;)
